Our mission is to provide an earth friendly alternative to disposable petroleum-based products for businesses while educating the general public on ways to reduce waste.

Green Alaska Solutions™ was started by Deborah O’Leary. Originally from Colorado, Deborah has lived in Alaska for over 20 years. She has worked for the Alaska Legislature and NANA Development Corporation. Deborah has a long history of involvement in community improvement projects and broader environmental and energy issues.

Garbage has always been a preoccupation of mine. I’m constantly frustrated by how hard it is to minimize what goes into the landfill with the prevalence of plastic and Styrofoam™ packaging. I believe packaging made from renewable resources is the future for disposables.

Using disposables made from plant-based materials is a good first step to reducing environmental impact and alleviating health concerns associated with petroleum-based products. These products will break down in the landfill without leeching toxins, but Alaska needs a commercial composting facility to efficiently and effectively turn them into soil.
